earlzeit 2032: Eigentlich wollte ich ja alles hintereinander haben bis ich mir einen neuen Rechner zulegen würde, aber dann am letzten Samstag sah ich das:

Schubste heute 1,5K € in Richtung E-Dealer, der mir nun eine passende Möhre zurückschubsen wird, mit der ich wohl die nächsten zwei bis drei Jahre Ruhe haben sollte. Tja und nun geht es natürlich nicht schnell genug. Ankunft des Kalkulators vermutlich erst im Laufe der nächsten Woche. Damn!
Aber bis dahin habe ich auch genug zu tun. Ab morgen fangen die Wohnungsbesichtigungen an. Bin ja mal gespannt.
earlzeit 1124: Dem Jod berichtete in der Woche vor dieser von einem Hoerspiel welches in wohl während der Wupperei betäubte. Egal auf welchem Weg und zu welchem Zweck das Spiel ins Ohr des Jodem gelangte, so machte mich die kurze Berichterstattung neugierig und ich lauschte ebenfalls der ersten Folge.
Ein großer Humbuck ist das alles, aber gut aufgenommen. Aber ein mit Tupac rappender Tron ist zuviel de Guten. Vielleicht eine andere Folge lauschen?

Ich denke dieser Artikel sagt alles. Tja, und wo wir gerade bei der Vorratsdatenspeicherung sind… Das Wohnheim hier ist wohl auch betroffen, wie ich heute bei einem informellen Treffen mit dem RZ hörte. Das heisst, dass Ich mir wohl mal darüber Gedanken machen muss wie wir denn hier die Infrastruktur auf die Beine stellen die Verbindungsdaten von 330 Bewohner zu speichern. Herzlichen Glückwunsch. Aber so richtig genau weiß das keiner, und das ist schlecht denn bekanntlich schützt Unwissenheit nicht vor Strafe. Im Worst Case würde ich mich also in der Administration des Netzwerkes sogar strafbar machen? Nun das wird nun über das RZ und die Hausverwaltung anwaltlich geklärt.
Und diesen Mist haben wir wem zu verdanken? Richtig liebe Leser sie ahnen es bereits. Nun ich bin mir ziemlich sicher das die Regierungsbruchpiloten den Karren hier derartig vor die Wand setzen das wir und schon in den nächsten 25 Jahren mit Kräften in der Regierung herumschlagen werden, die vermutlich mal das machen was sie sagen – nur mit dem Unterschied das zumindest ich und ein Großteil der Leser hier nicht gut finden wird.

Das Projekt bei der Arbeit geht heute offiziell in die öffentliche Beta-Phase. Earl erwartet eine Flut an Änderungswünschen Seitens der Kunden.
Wohnungssuch? Bin ich nicht zu gekommen – zuviel Arbeit. Vielleicht am WE? Nein, vermutlich lockt der Fotojudge.
Meinen abgelaufenen Perso hab ich auch schon sein 4 Jahren nicht erneuert gekriegt. Gut das liegt jetzt nicht an der Arbeit, aber die macht es momentan zumindest nicht einfacher. Mein Vorhaben dies gestern zu erledigen scheiterte an den unverschämt frühen Feierabend in den Ämtern umd 1600. Will auch ins Amt.
Erfreulich an dem vielen Schaffen des Earls ist allerdings das er bislang noch keinen Tag Urlaub nahm und dieser somit geballt am Ende des Jahres auf ihn wartet. Das wird für gut befunden.
earlzeit 1358: Wohnungsuche macht irgenwie keinen Spaß. Eigentlich sollte ich mich doch darauf freuen ne neue Bude zu haben, diese schön einzurichten, einen neuen Anfang zu machen? Nur leider hat der Wohnungsmarkt hier nicht soviel zu bieten oder sagen wir: Das was mich interessieren würde ist dann auch gleich so teuer, dass ich mich frage ob ich wirklich bereit bin knapp 600€ für eine zentrale Wohnung zu zahlen. Ok, die Wohnung ist schon wirklich schön, frisch renoviert mit mega schöner Küche, Balkon, Echtholzparkett, aber 600€ nur zum darin schlafen? Andere Wohnungen sind etwas ausserhalb, was grundätzlich kein Problem wäre, doch würde es mich ja schon reizen einfach mal schön zentral zu wohnen.
Die Alternative wäre eine WG, doch will mir dieser Gedanke auch nicht wirklich schmecken, schließlich habe ich mich in letzter Zeit zu sehr an das allein wohnen gewöhnt. Auf der anderen Seite hat dieses allein wohnen auch so seine Nachteile, das will ich gar nicht verschweigen. Tja, und an passenden WG Partnern aus seinem Bekanntenkreis mangelt es schlicht und einfach an Auswahl.
Aber das hilft alles nichts. Mein Mietvertarg hier im Heim läuft in absehbarer Zeit ab und ich brauche ne neue Bude. Daher werde ich (hoffentlich) in der kommenden Woche einfach mal selber inserieren und schauen was
sich daraus ergibt.
earlzeit 0913: Earl leidet seit einigen Tagen an nervösen Augenzucken was auf die Dauer nun doch anfängt zu nerven. Ansonsten wird gleich wie üblich wieder zur Arbeit gezuckt und sich aufs WE gefreut.
Die Zeit verfliegt momentan nur so und die anstehende Wohnungssuche ist nun nicht mehr lange aufschiebbar. Und auf eine solche Suche hab ich ja nun wirklich überhaupt keine Lust.
earlzeit 2219: Google is big, very big. We all know that and the reason for that is simple: They were doing their job quit good. Well I am telling nothing new but as Google is somewhat omnipresent today and we are feeding google with much of our personal interests or questions, writing blogs like this one, writing on mailinglist or beeing active in some other way on the internet, google will most probably notice it.
I know some of you would like to to use an google alternative if there would be an option which provides the same good results like Google do. I thought the same for many months and years but last week some of my colleagus told my about Scroogle.
Scroogle is acting like a search proxy. Sitting beween you and google protecting you from Google cookie attachs search string records or other tracking attemps. Well in contrast to Googles omipresence this isn’t too much which you can do to protect your privacy but it is an important beginning. Maybe you you too.
earlzeit 1356: Received my Cyrpto Card yesterday. It a small (usefull) gimmick all fellows of the FSFE get as a welcome gift. Basically the CC is a Smartcard including three OpenPGP subkeys. One for signatures, another for encryption and the last one could be used for authentifikation issues. To make use of this card the next task will be to get one of those Smartcard-Readers. I hope I will get one which is compatible to Linux. The list of compatible readers on the FSFE site would be a great start for my plan but, not risk no fun. So I will take a trip into the city and simply buy one.
Therefor the basic plan for tonight is also perpared: Getting this card to work

earlzeit2353: Narf! For almost two or three weeks I spent the evening hours with looking for some components for my new pc but finding the right things isn’t as easy as I want to. Basically my Laptop is more than sufficient for my daily work here, but it is getting too old to play the new games.
Ok, what do I want? Because of the must have capabillity to play games it won’t be a new laptop, although the games I am thinking of will also run on modern laptops. Anyway. Because of not chooing a laptop I will to buy almost all components and especially the screen and my keyboard should be good, as this are the devices I am interacting most time with. CPU, RAR etc. on aren’t so important apart from playing games like crysis .
In question of a new screen I think I have found my candidate, but I am not sure which keyboard to take. I love the keyboard of my T42 und this one is available as Naviboard. from Lenevo. I love this little tiny trackpoint at the middle of the keyboard as it is so handy for people who hates it to switch betwee typing text an mouse grabbing to click a button on a website or so. With a trackpoint you can leave you fingers on the keys an make use of your pointing device anyway. This becomes very very usefull if you get used to it.
The alternatives to this keyboard are a good old style cherry keyboard or “The Keyboard” I am not perfect in blind typing but this keyboard would help I think And this one has doubtless some geek factor doesn’t it? I like it and the keyboard is basically a good old cherry. So not problems expected from this side. And this one has the big advantage that it does fit for typing with Dvorak layout or the usual qwert[z,y] layout . I always wanted to learnd Dvorak.
Any suggestions on this?
earlzeit 0020: With whom? With this little cute tec goody: Asus Eee-Pc! Well what should I say? Ethernet, WLAN, 3,5 houres battery 900gr, 299€ and of course: linux running on it. Woooooohiee. Last but not least this is an Asus product and the AFAIK the quality of asus notebooks is quite good. The above article underlines this too.
I am sure this would be the right thing for Earl to play with. Another version with a 10” Display is announced for april next year. April? If this thingy would be available tonight I probably would have bought it. I am almost sure that I will get one of those mini laptops as soon as they get available.
earlzeit 0911: Well showering in the morning hour is a good thing and sometimes it teaches you some things. So get get wet but smarter than you where anway before into the drying – the most usefull thing in the world – towel. Today’s enlightment was to learn that Bruce Springsteens “Born the USA” is the most annoying song earl ever heard. Not because of its patriotic message. No! Even more brainmunching is the looping melody in this song.
